I am a former police officer who served in both the Arlington County and DC Metropolitan Police Departments. I worked in the Tactical Unit, as a Field Training Officer, and patrol over the course of 13 years with both organizations. I’ve been coaching CrossFit full-time since 2007 and have never looked back.

I’m a former police officer, retiring after 20 years of Patrol work. The last 16 years were spent as a K-9 handler and trainer. Many of my assignments required an expected level of fitness. However, nothing was as pertinent to my former career as CrossFit. After some high school sports and a list of gym...
I am a certified Level 1, Level 2, and CrossFit kids trainer, a student working on my Masters in Nutrition Education, and a mom of four very athletic grade school kids. I was always a competitive student athlete; but resigned myself to the globo-gym machine-based work-outs as an adult. I desperately missed the competition and...
I have been CrossFitting since March 2009, and in that time I have seen the physical and mental changes I was hoping for in a workout regimen. Before joining CrossFit, my workout routine was just that – very routine, but not satisfying or effective. After two-plus years, I am in the best shape of my...
I am a former elementary school teacher and have been a swim coach for many years. I swam competitively for most of my life, and through college. After college, I tried numerous workout routines and ran my first marathon. I was introduced to CrossFit in March 2012, and immediately wondered -where has this been my...
I have been active all my life, from playing soccer, to running track and cross-country, swimming, and tennis. After college, I started to run more, since it was easy, cheap and I thought, a great overall body workout. However, back problems started, and soreness that wouldn’t leave in my feet and a plethora of other...
Emily is a former level 10 gymnast who found CrossFit in 2012, after an injury forced her to retire from competitive gymnastics. After retiring from gymnastics, Emily missed the intense physical activity and thrill of competition. Fortunately, CrossFit offered the physical challenge and competitive atmosphere she had been missing! Emily is currently pursuing her master’s...
Being active has always been a daily routine for me; beginning when I was a kid riding horses. Once I graduated college and commissioned into the Air Force, my active lifestyle shifted from hours spent at the barn to hours spent in the gym. In the summer of 2013 during Air Force training, I was...
I am a certified CrossFit Level 1 Trainer; and began CrossFit in February 2011. As an athlete I played rugby in college, have completed a marathon and multiple half marathons, have competed locally in fitness competitions and recently began competing in Olympic weightlifting, having successfully qualified for and competed at the American Open Series III...
I’m an Arlington Public Schools Kindergarten teacher, Navy spouse, and mother. I played competitive collegiate rugby and in the US Women’s Premier Rugby League. I started CrossFit in the 2015, joined Adaptation in early 2019, and earned my L1 certification in 2020. With a career and family, it can be a challenge to prioritize your...
Testing limits. The immediate bond through suffering and excelling alongside others has always been home for me. I was fortunate to have made a run for the 2000, 2004 Olympics given the honor of representing the US at various meets around the world, but in 2008 decided to move forward retiring from swimming. Inspired by...
I started CrossFit in 2014 while training for a military pipeline and I’ve been in love with it ever since. Initially, I just wanted to improve my strength and conditioning, but it ended up giving me more than that. CrossFit became passion and gave me another community I could gravitate towards. I took that excitement, received my CrossFit...
I didn’t play sports as a kid and my extent of athleticism was being on the dance team my Freshman year in high school. Until I joined the Army, 23 years ago, and became an avid distance runner. However, after years of running, I found it daunting at times and needed something more dynamic in...
My fitness journey has been a long one to be sure. I remember when I was in high school and running a mile or completing twenty pushups was a pipe dream given how overweight and out of shape I was. That changed when I joined the military and after learning how to be comfortable being...
