I have been active all my life, from playing soccer, to running track and cross-country, swimming, and tennis. After college, I started to run more, since it was easy, cheap and I thought, a great overall body workout. However, back problems started, and soreness that wouldn’t leave in my feet and a plethora of other ailments that wouldn’t end. I had heard about CrossFit from friends, but was intimidated by Olympic lifts, the pace of the workouts and, well, all of it. The first workout left me unable to peel myself from the floor for a good ten minutes, and it was then I knew I was hooked. My version of healthy and in-shape was quickly voided after my first WOD, and now, four years later I can say with confidence, that I am the healthiest I have been all my life. The Olympic lifting that frightened the daylights out of me, has become one of my favorite parts of CrossFit. I also credit Olympic lifting with the fact that my back problems happen less frequently, since I am stronger overall. My entire family has embraced the fun, and mornings in our house are spent doing burpees and man-makers, in order to earn whip cream for waffles. I enjoy helping people of all ages build strength, become more aware of how their bodies move, and obtain goals that at one time may have seemed out of reach. I hold a CrossFit Level 1 and Level 2 certifications.
