Testing limits. The immediate bond through suffering and excelling alongside others has always been home for me. I was fortunate to have made a run for the 2000, 2004 Olympics given the honor of representing the US at various meets around the world, but in 2008 decided to move forward retiring from swimming. Inspired by my love for the sport and love for real fitness I began coaching. I am the head age group coach of Nations Capital Swim Club at our Burke location. I was able to handle 10,000yr practices as a distance swimmer where volume was seen as the most important thing. Going up a simple flight of stairs or going for a run: I would die. CrossFit opened my eyes to what true fitness is. The moment I finished my first workout I was hooked. The sweat, the hidden tears, the anxiety of “can I do this?” / “what did I get myself into” still exists 7 years later. Nothing better than when the workout is over and you look around at the crew that just crushed it with you. I currently hold my CF-L1.
